Innisfail is a town south of Red Deer in the Calgary-Edmonton Corridor, at the junction of Highway 2 and Highway 54. Before it took its current name, the settlement was often called Poplar Grove.
What that means for your heating
Innisfail has homes from many eras, from early houses near the old town centre to newer subdivisions. The oldest homes may have been converted from wood or coal heat to gas long ago, leaving odd duct layouts or a chimney that no longer vents anything. A technician can check whether old venting is still safe. See furnace replacement.
Highway town, farm country
Many Innisfail-area properties include a shop or barn heated by a separate unit heater. Gas heaters in outbuildings need the same yearly check as the house furnace, especially where dust and livestock are around.
The Isle of Destiny
The name comes from Inis Fáil, an Irish name for Ireland meaning "Isle of Destiny". Sandy Fraser, Napoleon Remillard, Arthur Content and Bill Kemp settled the area between 1884 and 1887, and Dr. Henry George built a house he called Lindum Lodge, later run by the Kemps as a boarding house into the 1960s. Big old houses like that were built before modern insulation, and they often have cold upper rooms that a duct and airflow check can improve.
